Course Impression
The courses benefits a lot to my currently work. I got the academic network, knowledge of teaching in higher education, knowledge of Southeast Asian Studies and CKS always has commitment to build a culture of research in Cambodia. All the courses they provided it always attached with research works. These two things always impressed me very much.
Keep provided these kind of academic activities and expand their project by providing the scholarship for Cambodia Young Scholars to further their studies.

-The Rural and the Urban: Cambodia’s Local History in a Regional Perspective, February to July 2007, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Course Impression
We learnt from international scholars and local scholars and we can share both Cambodian and international environment.
What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
CKS has to offer grant and scholarship for both Cambodians and international participants who are interested in Cambodian Studies. In this case, We Cambodians do not have enough resources why CKS has offered grants to the foreigners only so far. In addition, CKS should provide more grant and scholarship to Cambodians who are working on Khmer Studies both local and international forum.
How was/were the course(s) important for you and your current job?
– This course was important for me because it offered me the theory of translation from one language to another especially, from English into Khmer.
– For the Bridging cultures course, it provided me the setting of Chinese influences in Cambodian context and I have learnt this kinds situation happened in Cambodia and I can share ideas with another participant to deal with some problems.

CKS Attended Session
I used to participate the course “ Economic and Political Transformation in Southeast Asia” Which was instructed by Dr. Un Kheang in July 2011.
Course Impression
-Even though this is my first time to join CKS training program, I found that this course is extremely useful not only for my personal interest but also for my academic study, BA in International Studies at Institute of Foreign Languages. The course provided me broad understanding in terms of regional studies in which Cambodia is also a part of that.
-To be honest, I think CKS-run training course is great. All trainees were provided free useful reading materials and the room is well-equipped with teaching material such as computer, LCD projector as well as air conditioner. In short, the learning environment is comfortable and enjoyable.
What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
– Shortly after I joined the course, I realized that CKS is in rich of useful resources which are relevant to my subjects of my International Studies program. What I can say is that I am eager to join all CKS training programs as these courses contribute to my future plan to continue to do MA in Southeast Asia. Frankly speaking, I want to be a lecturer of History of Southeast Asia just like my lecturers, Mr. Tha Leang Ang and Mr. Ngoun Kimly who used to be a part of CKS translation programs.

Conceptualizing South East Asia: Curriculum Development in 2011.
Course Impression
The staffs and trainer are friendly. They are helpful. I just want to say a bit about the time of the course. For me I prefer the weekend because if the class starts at 6 pm and leave at 8 pm, I think I fell insecure because of traffic and security.
What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
I want to get more about research methodologies from trainer(s) and experiences on fields.
How was/were the course(s) important for you and your current job?
As researcher, I need somethings old and new. This must be combined together in order to be a good researcher with critical thinking.

CKS Attended Session
-Southeast Asia Studies (Nov, 2010 to Feb or March 2011, I am not sure) and Political Studies in ASEAN, I forget the date may be June 2011? I attended these courses because I like to learn history as I am a former history student. It would broaden my knowledge about regional history.
-These courses are very important to a former history student as I am. I got more knowledge about ASEAN history, especially in Politics. ASEAN Studies is a course which detail about ASEAN history that I did not get much in class. Also, Politics course broadened my point of views about the ASEAN countries policy.
Course Impression
CKS is an institute where provides a broad knowledge to scholar. The way of teaching and learning is very useful. I got many kind of document related to the courses. Especially, there are skillful lectures come to lecture in class both foreigners and local. Last but not least, CKS staffs are friendly and helpful.
What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
In any courses are so rush. There are many subjects to learn from the course but the time is so short. It is a pressure to students. Also, the course would not be detailed by the lectures. Next time, I hope CKS would assign a better schedule to learn.
However, I like the way CKS provides knowledge to scholars. I just hope there will be more courses in the future. I am willing to join.

CKS Attended Session
-Southeast Asia Studies (26 November 2010 – 5 March 2011)
Course Impression
Well, the course does not really relate to my current employment. However, participating the course provides me wider knowledge and understanding about Southeast Asia nations and ASEAN which I can pick some related information and knowledge to compliment with the lesson being provided to students. Totally, the course is really good to expanse my knowledge and understanding.
What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
I have only one suggestion so far. As I participated in the Southeast Asian Studies, I felt that the course allocated alot of time on the past or the history of the nations. From my point of view, the course should allocate appropriate duration for both story in the past and the present trends on political, economic and social of the nations. Frankly, I get bored when people always repeated what happen in the past and did not discuss much on the current trends of the nation and the future perspectives. Well, I do understand that past story is the best lessons learnt, however, the course should also design some more times to focus on the present and future event amongst ASEAN.

-Political Science, Southeast Asian Studies by Professor Kate, and Curriculum Development and Southeast Asian Studies by Professor Keren.
Course Impression
Thanks to CKS, I can learn about about the issues in Southeast Asia and it provides me background and fundamental mechanism on my research to fulfill my work.
What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
– I would like to encourage CKS to further the courses for students in order for them to earn more knowledge and skill from the courses they take at CKS. As we all have known that not many universities in Phnom Penh have offered the studies of SEA like CSK as our country is now opening it door the globalization of SEA. Thus, it is very important to CSK to enlarge its course on SEA Studies.

-Southeast Asian Studies
Course Impression
The course was not related too much to my current job. For instance, I have gained knowledge on academic writing and research skill, which would be useful for monthly report writing (critical thinking) and graduate school in the future. On the other hand, the course has improved general understanding about Southeast Asia. It has been interesting.
What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
I think the course has been interesting. It has been useful for trainees to better understand about Southeast Asia. Moreover, the course has improved knowledge of trainees on “Research Skill” and “Academic Writing”. In conclusion, the course was really important and interesting.

Course Impression
I attended Southeast Asian Study course with Dr. Karin Green. Honestly speaking, the course is not much relevant to my current work; however, it broaden my knowledge and prepare me for my Master Degree of Development studies, which requires broad understanding about history, economic and political issue in the region. Most interestingly, I can learn more from guest speakers, who brought various knowledge and expertise.
What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
I find the course very interesting and beneficial for my personal development. I would suggest CKS to provide more trainings to cambodia and share update or new research finding to this alumni as it is a kind of share learning from each other.

-Comparative Religious Practices in Southeast Asia February – July, 2006
Course Impression
I like the course, coordination and the environment. The general aims of the course are to understand various religions in and to explore religious gaps associated with nations in South East Asia. This expands my knowledge in working and being familiar with different groups of people – including the monks, community members and local authorities (who are all Buddhists) in different provinces in Tonle Sap. The course really allows me to understand, communicate among and work with these people more closely and thoroughly.
What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
There are two points:
-Continuity of as many courses as possible
-Expand the network beyond the donor fund
More sessions in Phnom Penh and other main provincial capitals should be extended and developed. This will establish more linkages between/among stakeholders at every level. Therefore, CKS will play more roles in educating people across the country and they will,in return, be ready in supporting the development of their communities, provinces and country.

What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
Focusing on Climate Change Adaptation or Development Effectiveness and Why do you think that/those thing(s) must be necessary? These are the cross-cutting issue that are effect all of us even individual or institutional.

of Political in Southeast Asia which conduct by Dr. Un Kheang
How was/were the course(s) important for you and your current job?
I found the course really useful to me since I am working on governance unit which more related to political and democracy in Cambodia. Moreover, it gives me the concept of political in Southeast Asia and link to reality as I am junior.
Course Impression
I joined the course of Political in Southeast Asia which conduct by Dr. Un Kheang
In general, I found that CKS training courses is really good for student as well as junior researchers to improve their knowledge. This is the first time for that can join this training, I am sure CKS will give me many chance to attend other course. I think, this is a great opportunities for Cambodian people to enhance their knowledge by CKS. I can say, CKS is a good resource institute that push people knowledge meet to standard level in term of analytical and methodology. The location is good but I am not really comfortable with the classroom. I feel room preparation is still need to improve in term of table ..etc.
What do you want CKS to provide or improve in the future? and Why?
Actually, I do not know detail all the course that CKS conducted so far, what I want CKS to provide is training about research methodology both quantities or qualitative. I think, that help me a lot since I work in research institutes. Anyways, research methodology also important for students and other staffs.
